Rumor: Popular Fortnite Feature Possibly Coming to Call of Duty: Warzone

JaggerGames2025-07-055126

Call of Duty may be taking a leaf out of Fortnite's book, as a new datamine has revealed that the Battle Royale's popular Audio Visualizer setting is likely coming to Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Although divisive, the Audio Visualizer is a popular choice in Fortnite, as it presents players with an on-screen indicator of the direction from which audio is coming. This is something that can offer a massive gameplay advantage in highly competitive titles such as Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone.

Although the Audio Visualizer feature hasn't made its way into Call of Duty just yet, developers Treyarch Studios and Raven Software recently deployed the big Season 4 Reloaded update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone, adding tons of new improvements and content to both titles. For fans of Black Ops 6's Multiplayer, the mid-season refresh saw the return of Fringe, an iconic map last seen in 2015's Black Ops 3. There was also the debut of a new, limited-time Beavis & Butt-Head event, Ranked Play Resurgence in Warzone, and a plethora of new weapons, blueprints, cosmetic items, and more.

With Season 4 Reloaded now live in-game, data miners such as HeyImAlaix got to work on checking out all of the new game files that were added with the mid-season update. While there were plenty of discoveries and leaks, one potential new feature has already divided the community. According to data-mined files, Call of Duty may soon have a new setting that will allow players to see footsteps and other sounds thanks to the Audio Visualizer. The file states that the setting will give gameplay and audio cues a visual component to help players determine any sounds or actions that are triggered near them.

Call of Duty Players Don't Want Audio Visualizer Added to the Game

Although popular, the ability to see footsteps in Fortnite has divided players since its introduction three years ago. While it is likely aimed at those who are hard of hearing, players quickly made use of the setting to see their enemies coming before they could hear them.

It's yet to be confirmed by Call of Duty's development studios if the Audio Visualizer is coming to the game, or if this file is the remnants of a scrapped feature, but fans aren't happy with its potential release. Twitter user XpertFusion said they "absolutely hate" the feature in Fortnite as it is abused by most players. The user notes that it is "totally fine" as an accessibility feature, but should only be available to those who need it. Others, such as Twitter user Caffrey, even went as far as to say that they would "never play [Call of Duty] again" if the feature is added to the game.

If Activision does intend to add an Audio Visualizer feature to Call of Duty, it looks like it could be another controversial decision by the studio. Call of Duty has already found itself in hot water with fans multiple times this season, with players recently expressing their disdain for Black Ops 6's Beavis & Butt-Head collaboration. Fans took to social media shortly after the announcement to blast the new cosmetic items as a "literal eyesore," as the community continues to grow tired of the shooter's unrealistic operator skins.
