However, it turns out that underground Lynels aren't particularly difficult to avoid—or find, for that matter. As recently noted by Reddit user Golurk623, every underground Lynel is located in the immediate vicinity of an area immediately below one of Tears of the Kingdom's stables.

Reflecting on this discovery, Golurk623 said it wasn’t until their second Tears of the Kingdom playthrough that they noticed a pattern behind the placement of Lynels in the Depths.
