US crude oil output hit record in April, EIA data shows

NEW YORK (Reuters) -U.S. crude oil production hit a record 13.47 million barrels-per-day in April, up from 13.45 million bpd in March, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration as part of its Petroleum Supply Monthly series.

The EIA had previously estimated U.S. oil output at 13.49 million bpd in March.

Crude oil production in top-producing state Texas rose 1.8% to 5.77 million bpd, the highest since November, the EIA data showed. In second-largest producer New Mexico, output was down 3.4% month-over-month to 2.19 million bpd, the EIA said.

Total U.S. petroleum product supplied, the EIA's measure of demand, rose 263,000 bpd month-over-month to 20.21 million bpd in April, the EIA data showed.

Gasoline demand rose 145,000 bpd to 8.91 million bpd in April, the highest since October, the EIA said.

Meanwhile, demand for distillate fuels, which include diesel and heating oil, edged lower marginally to 3.88 million bpd in April, from 3.89 million bpd in March, the EIA data showed.

Gross natural gas production in the U.S. lower 48 states rose to a record 120.31 billion cubic feet per day in April, up from the prior all-time high of 120.28 bcfd in March, according to the agency's 914 production report.

In top gas-producing states, monthly output in April rose by 1.2% to a record 37 bcfd in Texas, while Pennsylvania reported a 0.5% decline to 21.12 bcfd, the EIA said.

The prior record for Texas was 36.56 bcfd in March, according to the EIA data.
