Rockstar confirmed that development on Red Dead Online was largely winding down back in 2022, with no major updates to the title since. Its Western online title hasn't quite had the same mass appeal as Grand Theft Auto Online, which continues to receive major updates after almost 12 years. Red Dead Online has gotten a few minor updates over the last few years, and some content has been reused for new seasonal events. However, for the most part, Rockstar has kept to its word about leaving it in the past.

According to Rockstar, it adds "four new adventures that require steely resolve and courage in the face of the odd, twisted, and downright supernatural." The new 30-second trailer looks more than a little bonkers, showing off the four chaotic missions, which are named Strange Tales of the Plague, Strange Tales of Modern Science, Strange Tales of the Bayou, and Strange Tales of the Wilderness.
