Palworld: Tides of Terraria - A Crossover Event to Unite Fans of Two Beloved Games
The highly anticipated crossover between Palworld and Terraria is finally set to take place on June 25th, and fans of both games are eagerly awaiting the event. Pocketpair, the developer behind Palworld, has revealed the release date for the crossover alongside a short, animated teaser featuring both Palworld and Terraria characters.
Back in 2024, Palworld announced its plans to cross over with Terraria, but at the time, no details were provided about what fans could expect. However, the announcement was enough to build anticipation among fans, and Palworld quickly became a success with its unique world filled with creatures called “Pals” that players must tame and befriend. This drew several comparisons to, and even ongoing issues with, the Pokemon IP.
Terraria, on the other hand, is a popular 2D action-adventure sandbox game first released in 2011 for PC and often described as a blend of Minecraft and Metroidvania. The game is known for its focus on exploration, crafting, combat, building, and survival.
While it’s still unclear how these two games will blend together, the developer has now offered another glimpse into the crossover. The short 44-second animated teaser shows a Palworld character and some Pals exploring a dungeon packed with challenges and dangers. At one point in the video, the characters find a Terraria weapon (the Terra Blade) and quickly escape the dungeon after being chased by monsters, eventually taking shelter in a small house.
At the end of the video, Terraria’s Eye of Cthulhu appears on top of the house, alongside the Moon Lord. The developer didn’t reveal much, but the video suggests that players will likely have to explore dungeons and face some Terraria enemies along the way. The Palworld: Tides of Terraria update will not only add elements from the 2D indie hit but also new Pals joining the game, along with new islands and “new content.” Players will need to wait a few more days to discover what’s new in the game and how this exciting collaboration will play out.
As previously mentioned, amid the excitement surrounding the crossover, Pocketpair has been involved in some long-standing legal issues with The Pokemon Company, which has accused the Palworld developer of copyright infringement. This ongoing situation has forced Pocketpair to make certain critical changes to the game through updates in order to differentiate Palworld from Pokemon. While these legal dramas continue to unfold, Pocketpair is now gearing up for June 25th and the release of the highly anticipated crossover event.
