Summer Fun at Woodbourne Library: Coding, Gaming, and More for Kids and Teens

Dayton, Ohio - The Washington-Centerville Public Library is excited to announce a series of summer events for both kids and teens at Woodbourne Library, located at 6060 Far Hills Ave. The library is committed to providing accessible programs, services, and facilities for all its events.

On Monday, June 23, at 6 p.m., the library will host "Super Readers," a book club for first and second graders with adult accompaniment. Participants will engage in discussions, play games, and create crafts. This month's selection is "The Ocean is Kind of a Big Deal" by Nick Seluk, which can be found at the Children's Desk. Registration is required.

At 7 p.m. on the same day, the "Heads in Books" book club will meet for third through fifth graders. Members are asked to read "If You Sailed on the Titanic" by Denise Lewis Patrick, available at the Children's Desk. Registration is also required.

On Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m., the library will host "Totally Teen Tuesday: Video Game Night" for sixth graders to seniors. Participants can try out the library's new PlayStation 5 or compete in a friendly Super Mario Bros. tournament while enjoying snacks.

On Wednesday, June 25, at 4:30 p.m., the "Coding Club: Geometry Dash Competition" will take place for fourth through seventh graders. This tournament bracket is open to all interested students and registration is required.

On Thursday, June 26, at 5 p.m., the library will partner with the Cincinnati Museum Center to present "The Best of Biology." This event is open to sixth graders through seniors and will focus on genetics, with hands-on activities such as interpreting and creating phylogenetic trees or cladograms. Registration is required.

On Friday, June 27, at 3 p.m., the library will host "Coral: A Colorful Community" for ages 3 to 5 with adult accompaniment. Kids will learn about ocean life and coral reef inhabitants through a puppet play and a symbiosis puzzle. At 5 p.m., the same event will be held for first through fifth graders with adult accompaniment.

On Saturday, June 28, at 11 a.m., the library will host "We Got the Beat: A Family Storytime" for all ages with adult accompaniment. Participants can enjoy clapping, tapping, singing, marching, and rocking to stories about music and create a rhythm instrument afterwards. At 7 p.m., the library will host "Glow Night!" for sixth graders through seniors with a black light-themed dance featuring music, glow games, and more. Registration is required for both events.
