Dying Light 2 Releases Big Update for June 2025

DeaconGames2025-06-281850

Techland has revealed Dying Light 2 Update 1.23’s patch notes, heralding the start of the UGC Fest, an event focused on community-created content. The update reinforces Techland’s long-standing commitment to supporting Dying Light 2: Stay Human, which the studio previously promised to maintain for at least five years.

The entire Dying Light franchise has seen an uptick in activity over the past few weeks, a trend that can likely be attributed to the impending release of Dying Light: The Beast, set to launch on August 22, 2025. Just a couple of days ago, Techland announced the Retouched Update for Dying Light, a comprehensive visual upgrade that increases texture quality across the board to “create a sharper, better look” for the now 10-year-old title.

In a recent blog post on the official Dying Light website, Techland revealed the patch notes for Dying Light 2 Summer Update 1.23 alongside the commencement announcement for the UGC Fest, a celebratory event highlighting the game’s thriving modding community. In terms of patch notes, Update 1.23 mainly consists of bug fixes and minor quality-of-life improvements, but one big gameplay change stands out: Dying Light 2’s default immunity timer has been increased by 50%. This tweak significantly increases how long players can stay outdoors at night before infection begins to set in.

The headliner for the Dying Light 2 Summer Update 1.23 is the UGC Fest, a 4-week-long event with a rotating schedule that will feature community-made maps made using Dying Light 2 map editor Techland has made available to the public via Steam, allowing for custom-map creation. Each week, three new user-generated maps will be the focus, with players being tasked with completing bounties within them to earn exclusive in-game rewards. The bounties will need to be triggered from Pilgrim Outpost, one of Techland’s websites, before they become available in-game. The event kicks off today, June 26, and will last until July 23.

Close June 26 to July 2: LFG, Lunar Heist, Dying Guys July 3 to July 9: Desert Fury, The Intersection, Harran Prison July 10 to July 16: Holy Bullets, Aiden’s Nightmare, Island Marathon July 17 to July 23: Ancient Colosseum, Ruins of Hope, Fish Hunt

Update 1.23 will also feature a collaboration with the indie hit Balatro, titled the “Friend of Aiden Bundle,” offering Dying Light 2 players the Jimbo Outfit, the Ceremonial Dagger, the Flying Blind Paraglider, and the Joker Charm. These Balatro-themed additions can be acquired by completing two short side quests that can be triggered by interacting with newly added posters in two locations. One is located in the Bazaar (Trinity), while the other can be found in the Fish Eye Settlement (New Dawn Park). Though most of these new items are purely cosmetic, the Joker Charm offers 12 unique gameplay-impacting effects that are randomly chosen every time the Charm is crafted.
