Cadillac Might Scoop Up Christian Horner

Amidst speculation about what might happen to Christian Horner, it seems he might land at Cadillac’s new F1 team. Not too long ago, there was considerable chatter about the former Red Bull team principal joining up with Scuderia Ferrari. But that talk has calmed down as it becomes far more likely he will join up with the newest team in Formula One.

It seems Cadillac has been courting Horner for some time, reportedly all the way back in December. But he was a taken man then and probably told the team he was happy with Red Bull, a team where he found much success.

But now he’s a free agent and according to Italian site Formula Uno Analisi Tecnica, it seems Cadillac is the most probable place where Horner will end up. If he does end up as principal there, he’ll have his work cut out for him.

After all, Cadillac has participated in exactly zero F1 races. The team doesn’t even officially have drivers yet, and considering it won’t be joining the field until next season, we might not know who those are for several more months.

However, Horner has demonstrated in past performances that he can take a program and grow something out of nothing. After all, he joined Red Bull when it was a fledgling program, rapidly turning it into a powerhouse.

He might be ready to do the exact same thing with Cadillac. Everyone else in F1 should be nervous at that possibility.

Did Red Bull just make a huge mistake by giving Horner the boot? Did the team just create its own worst nightmare? Will he go to Cadillac and build it into a dominant force in F1, overshadowing his former team?

The only potential snag right now is that Cadillac has a team principal, Graeme Lowdon. He was tapped in December for the role, which is when the team was reportedly courting Horner originally. Would Cadillac dump Lowdon and make Horner principal? Would it use Horner in another position? Or would it shift Lowdon to a different role?
