Jeremy Allen White Takes on the Painful Days of Bruce Springsteen in Deliver Me From Nowhere Biopic
The upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, directed by Scott Cooper and starring Jeremy Allen White as the iconic Bruce Springsteen, is set to hit theaters on October 24th. The film centers around the time period when Springsteen released his deeply personal 1982 album Nebraska, a time in his life that was filled with pain and personal struggles.
Despite being on tour in Canada for the first month of filming, Springsteen would often visit the set and even joked that he was sure it was worse for the actor than for him. "Jeremy Allen White was very, very tolerant of me the days that I would appear on the set," he said. "I said to him, 'Look, anytime I’m in the way, just give me the look and I’m on my way home.'"
The first footage from Deliver Me From Nowhere debuted earlier this year at CinemaCon, and the official trailer dropped on Wednesday. The trailer gives audiences a glimpse of White's portrayal of Springsteen, including his performance of the beloved 1975 single "Born to Run."
The film is adapted from Warren Zanes' 2023 book of the same name and features a strong supporting cast including Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Paul Walter Hauser, Gaby Hoffmann, Johnny Cannizzaro, Harrison Gilbertson, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, and Chris Jaymes.
While Springsteen was initially hesitant to watch the film due to its personal nature, he eventually decided to take a more hands-off approach, allowing the actors to feel free and uninhibited. "I wanted the actors to feel completely free, and I didn’t want to get in the way," he said. "So I would just stay at home. If Scott Cooper, the director, wanted or needed me there for something, I would try to make it."
