Respawn Entertainment has released a new update for Apex Legends, adjusting a couple of weapons in the battle royale. While the midseason update for Season 25 of Apex Legends made significant changes to characters and weapons, the developer continues to adjust the meta through smaller balance patches as well.
Despite not being as popular as it was at launch, Apex Legends still has a sizable player base. The game regularly draws over 100,000 concurrent players daily on Steam, with fans enjoying the fast-paced gameplay of the battle royale. Respawn regularly introduces new changes to Apex Legends to keep players engaged, with the most recent of these potentially impacting the weapon meta.

Apex Legends: The Case for a Star Wars Zero Company Crossover
In order to promote Star Wars Zero Company, Respawn should host an Apex Legends crossover event themed entirely around the upcoming title.
PostsAs part of a new update, the development team made balance adjustments to the Devotion and EVA-8 in Apex Legends. According to the patch notes, "improved scaling from high-tier barrels and stocks" was removed from the Devotion. In addition, the gun's magazine size had been reduced from 52 to 48. These changes should nerf the LMG to a certain extent, making it less forgiving. Besides the Devotion, the developer tweaked the stats on the EVA-8. Specifically, damage per pellet was increased from six to seven, while the fire rate was reduced. Furthermore, the purple and gold bolts have been adjusted to align with other shotguns in Apex Legends.
CloseWhile the guns were the highlight for many players, the latest update made several quality-of-life changes to Arenas: Duels, the new LTM in Apex Legends. Thanks to this patch, players should only remain highlighted during the countdown in matches. In addition, the LTM should feel faster-paced due to adjustments to mode timing and duel transitions.
It will be interesting to see how these gun changes impact the meta in the coming days. While some players were glad that the Devotion was getting some nerfs to curb its power, others thought that more needed to be done. It is worth noting that the LMG received a significant rework at the start of Season 25 of Apex Legends. Respawn had noted at the time that the Devotion felt a “tad clunky and a bit too slow,” but it appears that those changes went too far.
Hopefully, the changes made in this recent patch improve the gameplay experience for players. The midseason update for Apex Legends already made improvements to Legends like Wattson and Vantage, updating their kits to be more effective in the current meta. Time will tell what other changes the developer will implement as the rest of the season plays out.
