Wall Streets New Corporate Investment Trend: BNB Tokens on the Rise as Companies Follow MicroStrategys Bitcoin Lead
Wall Street is buzzing with news of a new trend in corporate investment, as companies are starting to accumulate BNB tokens, similar to MicroStrategy's well-known Bitcoin purchasing habits. Changpeng Zhao, the co-founder of Binance, has noted a growing trend of corporations accumulating BNB tokens, likening it to MicroStrategy's well-known purchasing habits with Bitcoin.
On June 23, Zhao tweeted, "BNB 'microstrategy' coming to a company near you!" The tweet appears to refer to hedge fund executives, indicating that some companies around the world are starting to accumulate Binance Coin (BNB) on their balance sheets.
According to Bloomberg, a team of former Coral Capital Holdings executives, including veterans from the crypto hedge fund industry Patrick Horsman, Joshua Kruger, and Johnathan Pasch, are trying to raise $100 million to purchase BNB tokens through a New York Stock Exchange company, which they are later going to rename to Build & Build Corporation. The transaction is comparable to MicroStrategy's Bitcoin treasury movement and has already influenced companies like SoftBank, Tether, and Donald Trump's media company Trump Media & Technology Group.
The group aims to raise funds this month to start accumulating BNB. If successful, this could be one of the first additional projects by a publicly traded company that would target Binance's native token as a treasury reserve asset. Zhao states that they are not doing this intentionally, but rather that the trend is developing organically. The tweet contributes to the ongoing discussions about whether BNB, initially designed as a utility token to reduce trading fees on Binance, is evolving into a more broadly recognized asset.
At the time of writing, BNB was trading at $620.51, making it the fifth-largest crypto by market cap. The news of this new corporate investment trend has caused a stir on Wall Street and is sure to be a topic of discussion in the coming days and weeks.
