USWNT Star Mallory Swanson and Cubs Shortstop Dansby Swanson Welcome First Child: A New Chapter for the Family

Mallory Swanson, the star midfielder for the Chicago Stars, has announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Dansby Swanson, who plays as a shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. The news comes after Swanson had been away from the Stars all season due to personal reasons, including not playing with the U.S. women's national team in the SheBelieves Cup camps last winter. Swanson's absence has been felt by the Stars, who currently hold a 1-1-5 record and sit 14th in the NWSL standings heading into Saturday's matchup with the Washington Spirit. It is likely that Swanson will miss the rest of the NWSL season as she prepares for her new role as a mother. Swanson shone with the USWNT last year, scoring a game-winning goal in the team's gold medal match against Brazil in the Paris Olympics. It was her 100th cap for the national team. Mallory and Dansby have been together since 2017 and got married in 2022, shortly after his final season with the Atlanta Braves.
