Edison High-Rise in Milwaukee to Welcome New Copa Vida Coffee Shop and Cafe
The Edison apartment high-rise under development in downtown Milwaukee has secured a commercial tenant in the form of a coffee shop and cafe. Copa Vida, a California-based chain, will lease over 3,000 square feet on the ground floor of The Edison, a 32-story, 378-unit tower located at 1005 N. Edison St. The cafe, known as Copa Vida Provisions, will offer a menu featuring pastries, sandwiches, and breakfast items such as omelets and pancakes. The main entrance of the cafe will be at the corner of North Edison and East State streets, according to Nate Helbach, CEO of Madison-based Neutral, which is developing The Edison. Copa Vida will also provide food and beverage service for The Edison's residents who use the building's 6,000-square-foot co-working space, which is also located on the ground floor along the RiverWalk. Site preparation and foundation work have been underway this spring, with the first concrete slab to be poured this summer. The $133 million development's first apartments are expected to be completed by spring 2027, with the remaining units finished by summer 2027. The groundbreaking ceremony for The Edison is set for June 16. Copa Vida's first location opened in 2022 in Pasadena, California, and it operates cafes throughout southern California, with two locations at Neutral-developed buildings in Madison.
