We all know that a carefree beach day just hits differently! After you’ve had a long week at work, there is no better feeling than putting your toes in the sand and soaking up some vitamin sea! Many members of the animal kingdom feel the same way, especially the elephant herds that are being cared for by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
In a recent video that was shared on the organization’s Instagram page, we were treated to a delightful train of happy young elephants running towards the beach with the excitement of teenagers during spring break!
Every day the keepers take the young elephants out on excursions to explore the wilderness and to help them learn how to become independent elephants. The Kaluku herd has several of the youngest orphan members and on this special day, the group was treated to a special outing that led them to the beach.

Once the sand was loosened, it was much better suited for them to toss it onto their backs. Korbessa, Natibu, Mwinzi, and Toto were soaking up the sun and flinging sand like experts in no time.
After a quick visit to the water, the beach adventure had to end, and the little pachyderms took off running back to the trail. Honestly, there is truly nothing cuter on the planet than innocent animals enjoying everyday life! Especially these previously orphaned elephants that have now become siblings and herd mates!
