The stock of Robinhood Markets (Nasdaq: HOOD) hit an all-time high of $92.35 on June 30 as the Menlo Park, California-headquartered trading exchange launched a suite of new crypto products.
Robinhood announced the launch of more than 200 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to its customers in the European Union (EU).
Tokenization of stocks refers to the process of digitally representing stocks as tradable tokens on a blockchain in order to offer fractional ownership of those stocks to potential investors. Tokenization not only digitizes stocks, it also makes them more affordable to trade.
Robinhood will issue these stock tokens on Arbitrum, the Ethereum-based layer 2 blockchain.
Steven Goldfeder, co-founder and CEO of Offchain Labs, the team behind Arbitrum, said, "Robinhood's launch on Arbitrum today is exactly the future that I envisioned... Robinhood is utilizing Arbitrum's technology to grow its core business, expand into new markets, and offer 400 million EU customers a trading experience that's on par with the one U.S. users know and love."
The platform said it is developing a blockchain of its own to issue these tokens.

The exchange also announced the launch of crypto perpetual futures, offering up to 3x leverage to eligible EU customers.
Perpetual-style futures are like standard futures derivatives except that they don't expire at a certain fixed date. Robinhood's futures will track the spot prices of the cryptocurrencies while offering 3 times leverage.
U.S. customers not left behind
The trading platform didn't leave out its customers in the U.S. where it launched crypto staking to eligible customers. For now, customers can stake Ethereum and Solana. The platform said crypto staking is also available to all Robinhood customers in the EU and European Economic Area (EEA).
Story Continues“Crypto was built by engineers for engineers, and has not been accessible to most people,” said Johann Kerbrat, GM and SVP of Robinhood Crypto. “We’re onboarding the world to crypto by making it as easy to use as possible—with the goal of bringing powerful tools into one intuitive platform.”
