Overwatch 2 Season 17 Perks Bug: Exploiting the Game, Causing Imbalance and Queues: What You Need to Know

A new glitch in Overwatch 2 Season 17 is causing some issues for players. According to a report by Redditor Stanners14, the bug involves pressing the buttons for each tier of perks in rapid succession, allowing heroes to select three or even four Perks during matches.

This is obviously not an intentional change, as Perks are powerful modifiers that can reshape how each hero plays. A single Overwatch 2 hero can usually only select one Minor and Major Perk, so being able to get all four at once could create some truly imbalanced situations in a match.

Given the severity of this bug, players can expect Overwatch 2 to squash it soon. In the meantime, players should be careful about trying to replicate the glitch – especially in Competitive Play in Overwatch 2 – as it could lead to them getting in trouble by Blizzard for exploiting it.

In addition to this glitch, many fans have reported other issues with the Season 17 update, including queues as big as 20,000 players when trying to log in and patch sizes upwards of 37 gigabytes on Xbox. Blizzard is undoubtedly working to resolve these problems as quickly as they can, but it may not be a bad idea for players to give Overwatch 2 some time to sort everything out.

While they wait, Overwatch 2 fans can score two Loot Boxes as Twitch Drops from now through July 6. Simply watch five hours of any streamer in the Overwatch 2 category during the time period and claim the items from their Twitch inventory to receive the Loot Boxes.

In the meantime, players should enjoy the new Aatlis Flashpoint map for Core Overwatch 2, three new heroes in Stadium, and tons of hero balance adjustments for both game modes. The Season 17 update also brings a Battle Pass refresh and the first-ever dual Mythic skin launch.
