Pixars 2028 Mystery Movie: A New Chapter in the Studios Legacy
Pixar, the animation studio that has brought us some of the most beloved films in recent history, has announced the release date for an untitled mystery movie, scheduled to hit theaters on March 10, 2028. This exciting new addition to the Pixar library will be released just a few months after Gatto, the next Italy-set animated movie from Luca filmmaker Enrico Casarosa, which is set to arrive in theaters on June 18, 2027.
Gatto follows the story of a black cat named Nero who is indebted to a feline mob boss and is expected to feature an unexpected friendship that may lead Nero to his purpose. While the studio has not yet revealed the official voice cast for the film, fans are eagerly anticipating this new addition to the Pixar canon.
In addition to Gatto, Pixar has another highly anticipated project scheduled for a 2028 release: Incredibles 3. While the exact theatrical release date for Incredibles 3 has not been announced yet, it is known that the film's creative team has undergone a change. After directing the first two installments of the franchise, Brad Bird will be replaced by veteran Pixar filmmaker Peter Sohn. Bird had to exit the project due to his prior commitments to another project, but he is expected to remain as the threequel's writer and executive producer.
Sohn, who has been a staple figure in Pixar for the past two decades, will be making his third feature-length directorial movie with this project. Prior to directing 2023's hit romance comedy Elemental, he was part of the creative team on a number of popular Pixar movies, including Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Monsters University, Inside Out, and more.
The upcoming mystery Pixar movie is sure to be a highly anticipated release, and fans of the studio's work can look forward to seeing what Sohn brings to the table with this new project.
