Michael Dunphy Flew Himself to a Fickle Caribbean Secret Spot and Scored So Hard

Strike missions can be risky endeavors. The chances of getting skunked are always high, especially when you’re heading to a notoriously fickle spot, but if you can learn to enjoy the journey as much as the destination, you can find at least a little joy in all the other stuff that comes along with getting skunked. But if you can find that joy and not get skunked… well, consider that strike mission successful. Like the one Michael Dunphy took to the Caribbean.
It helps that Dunphy is not just a very good surfer, but he’s a pilot, as well. He’s the proud owner of a beautiful little 1978 Cessna, so when a swell popped up in the forecast that was the best they’d seen in a decade, he decided to pull the trigger. He found a crew, waxed up the boards, and hopped in the plane.
“I’m back in the plane but this time jumping puddles down to the Caribbean, finally chasing a dream I’ve had for years,” Dunphy wrote. “Combining surf and flight in a single Caribbean adventure.”

After a flight, a two hour boat ride, and a whole lot of crossed fingers, they arrived to find the most fickle of waves doing something absolutely magical.
