Mariska Hargitay's documentary about her mom Jayne Mansfield comes out on Max today.

Mariska Hargitay’s feature film directorial debut is deeply personal.

In her new documentary “My Mom Jane,” the “Law & Order SVU” star searches for answers about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield, who died in a tragic car accident at the age of 34.

“There’s so much pain left in the unsaid,” Hargitay told the New York Times last week, adding, “I just wanted to say it. I’m not scared.”

Almost six decades after her mom’s tragic passing, Hargitay wove interviews with family members, home movies and archival photos into an intimate portrait of Mansfield — a Hollywood legend and one of the most-photographed stars of the 1950s.

“Her career made me want to do it differently, but I want to understand her now,” Hargitay says in the film’s trailer.

The project also resulted in the public revelation that Mickey Hargitay, who passed away in 2006, is not her biological father — a family secret she’d been holding for more than three decades.
