After a seven-year hiatus, Fear Factor is returning to American households with a new twist and a familiar face. Johnny Knoxville, the "champion of fearless entertainment" according to FOX TV president Michael Thorn, is set to host the new reality competition series Fear Factor: The Next Chapter.

The iconic series, which originally aired from 2001-2012 and was hosted by Joe Rogan, will follow a similar format in the new iteration. A group of strangers will be dropped into an unforgiving, remote location and will live together under one roof, facing mind-blowing stunts, harrowing challenges, and a twisted game of social strategy where trust is fleeting and fear is a weapon. Only one contestant will conquer all their fears and walk away with the massive grand prize.

Sharon Levy, the CEO of Endemol Shine, the company behind the new reboot and the original series, praised Knoxville as the perfect host for what will be a wild, unforgettable ride. She added that they are excited to see him unleash all the fear (and the fun) on contestants and viewers.

The new series is slated for a premiere in the 2025-2026 season on Fox, and casting is underway for Fear Factor: The Next Chapter. Production encourages any U.S. or Canadian residents over the age of 18 to apply at FearIsBack.com.

Fear Factor has been adapted for international audiences, with 32 global adaptations in countries like Brazil (Hipertensão) and Romania (Pariu cu Frica – Fear Factor). The original series was adapted from a Dutch series called Now or Neverland and has since gone international, making it a truly global phenomenon.

With Johnny Knoxville at the helm, Fear Factor: The Next Chapter is sure to be a thrilling and unforgettable addition to the reality competition genre. Sign up for Entertainment Weekly's free newsletter to get the latest trailers, celebrity interviews, film reviews, and more.
