On Friday, June 27, the Emmy Award-winning journalist, 55, tied the knot with husband Jeff Bezos, 61, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy.

There, she wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown, inspired by her Blue Origin flight. On Monday, April 14, Sánchez,Katy Perry, Gayle King, rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn, embarked on an 11-minute flight to the boundary of outer space.

Sánchez shared in Vogue's June 2025 digital cover story that her space exploration experience inspired two elements of her wedding, including the “something blue” she had with her during her wedding day.

While the author confessed that she and Bezos won’t “have a lot of traditions that we’re keeping,” she did note that she was following the famed wedding rhyme: “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”

Her something borrowed was a pair of Dolce & Gabbana earrings, while her something blue was a secret souvenir from her Blue Origin flight —though she didn't specify what it is.

“It was literally one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had in my life," Sánchez said. "Seeing Earth from space, I came down and I couldn’t describe it. It was the greatest experience I’ve ever had. Jeff said, ‘It’s gonna change you more than you think,’ and it completely has, visually, spiritually.”

Her flight also inspired one larger aspect of the wedding: her dress. She told the outlet that the journey triggered the idea to shift away from the modern, strapless silhouettes she tends to find herself in.

Instead, she opted for a lacy look that wasinspired by the dress Sophia Loren wore to marry Cary Grant in the 1958 film Houseboat, she told the outlet.

“It went from ‘I want a simple, sexy modern dress’ to ‘I want something that evokes a moment,’ ” she shared, noting that her now-husband lets her be her true self and “unapologetically free” in the same way she views the late movie star, Loren.

Sánchez also revealed that she felt "like a princess" in the custom gown. She had met with Domenico Dolce in New York more than a year and a half ago to start crafting her dream dress.

"It just feels like, I don't know, it carries everything I've walked through to get here. It's elegant, it's timeless, it's soft,” she said in a video posted by Vogue on Instagram.
