Emily In Paris Season 5: Darren Stars Update, Camille Razats Exit, Lucas Bravos Return, and New Netflix & Peacock Shows
Emily In Paris creator and executive producer Darren Star is currently in Paris, working on the upcoming fifth season of his hit Netflix comedy series starring Lily Collins. In an interview about the success of his previous series, Younger, Star provided an update on the upcoming season of Emily In Paris.
The fifth season of Emily In Paris is set to premiere in 2025 and will begin filming in May, starting with a four-week shoot in Rome before returning to Paris. The returning cast includes Collins as Emily Cooper, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau, Ashley Park as Mindy Chen, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, and William Abadie as Antoine Lambert. Lucien Laviscount will also be back as Emily’s former boyfriend Alfie, while Eugenio Franceschini will be introduced as a new love interest for Emily.
However, Camille Razat, who had been a series regular for the first four seasons as Camille, Emily’s onetime friend and main rival for Gabriel’s heart, will not be returning. Star explained that her story had a natural finish and that she packed up and left Paris after one last go at a relationship with Gabriel under false pretenses involving a fake pregnancy.
Despite Camille’s departure, Emily’s love life is expected to remain complicated in Season 5. Marcello (Franceschini) will be back, but old flame Gabriel is ready to fight for her. “Her love life is always complicated,” Star said. “We have Marcello, and Lucas Bravo is going to be back this season, so we have some interesting, surprising developments in terms of her love life.”
Bravo had raised questions about his return for Season 5 last fall, saying that he felt “frustrated” and that playing Gabriel was “not fun anymore” as the character was “being slowly turned into guacamole.” However, Star clarified that it was just a misunderstanding and that Bravo never intended not to come back.
Laviscount will be back as a series regular after only appearing in a handful of episodes in Season 4. “Lucien is basically in every episode this season,” Star said. “He’s terrific, and I’m really happy to see him back this year in a more significant way.”
Under his overall deal at Universal Television, Star sold two high-profile projects earlier this year: Climbing in Heels and Uncorked. Climbing in Heels is an hourlong adaptation of Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas’ upcoming novel which he is co-writing with her and is set up at Peacock. Uncorked is a half-hour, single-camera dramedy which Star is co-writing with New Amsterdam creator David Schulner and is at Netflix.
Star expressed excitement about both projects, lifting the veil just a bit on Uncorked which is set in Napa Valley and features a brilliant female winemaker who gets a big second chance in life. “It’s kind of like the wine world, but definitely coming in from a female point of view of a very complicated character,” he said.
Climbing in Heels follows the rise of five ambitious secretaries navigating the glitzy world of 1980s Hollywood while offering a glimpse into the boys-will-be-boys club and the women who wanted a seat at a table where they were expected to serve. There is no talent attached yet for Climbing in Heels but Star expressed his excitement about writing it and casting it with strong roles for actresses.
