Uncovering Secrets: Smittys Investigation Threatens to Expose Martins Past in Beyond the Gates

In the June 26th episode of Beyond the Gates, Chelsea continued to seek legal advice from her father regarding her new purse line, while Kat made progress in speeding up Leslie's DNA test results. Smitty's investigation into Martin's secret continued to heat up, and the shady busboy, Kenneth, continued to haunt and harass Martin. Meanwhile, Vernon met with Kenneth at the country club to assess him for himself.

The Shady Busboy

Vernon (Clifton Davis) tried to talk to Kenneth (Jason Vendryes) at the country club, but the man was not only creepy and shady but also rude. Kenneth's behavior was particularly disturbing on Juneteenth, and Vernon sensed that he was present at whatever had happened two years ago. The night in question sounds terrifying, considering how much it is affecting Martin (Brandon Claybon).

Who did Vernon call at the end of the episode? Our first guess would be Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), but he is currently laid up recuperating after his mini-stroke. Still, Bill is an essential element of the story since he is often in fixer mode.

The Shady Cop

We now know that Kenneth was probably involved in what happened two years ago. Someone else who was there that night is Jacob's grumpy partner, Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy). Marcel is not happy with how much Smitty (Mike Manning) is digging into his background. As a result, Smitty is now on Marcel's and Chief Elon's (Malachi Malik) radar. Smitty even took a look at Marcel's financials, which included sketchy deposits, a house in the Caribbean, and a boat. Before, Marcel was just getting by as a cop; now he's living his best life and is due to retire soon. So he doesn't want anything nefarious popping up and making his life difficult.

Could the Duprees be responsible for the $500K deposit? Smitty is getting closer to uncovering Martin's secret. Unfortunately, Martin doesn't have the sense to tell his husband about it before the truth can do damage to their marriage. Meanwhile, Marcel and Elon are not feeling Smitty and might have to do something to throw the investigative reporter off their scent. This seems like a cover-up that the police know all about. Furthermore, Smitty is also making dangerous connections between Marcel and Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom). Could Joey be involved that night as well?
