Cory Monteith's parents die weeks apart, 12 years after “Glee” star's tragic death

Cory Monteith's mother has died, just weeks after the late actor's estranged father's death.
TheGleestar's mom, Ann Marie McGregor, died "peacefully" on June 18, according to herobituary. She was 74.
McGregor was being treated for an illness at the hospital prior to her death, according to her obituary, which states, "We would ... like to thank the doctors, nurses and palliative care staff at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon for the impeccable care Ann received while there."

"The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the palliative care unit at the DECH for their outstanding care and compassion over the last few months," his obituary reads.
Corydied in 2013 froma combination of drug and alcohol toxicityat 31 years old. Five years after the actor's death, McGregor opened up about how she was still trying to cope with the loss of her son.
"I still can’t pick up the pieces," McGregor told PEOPLE at the time. "My world totally stopped. And I’m a different person than I was before."

However, he told PEOPLE in 2013 that he was heartbroken that he didn't get to say goodbye.
"It's just ripping my insides out and tearing me apart," Joe said at the time.

Cory Monteith as Finn Hudson on 'Glee'Glee, on which Cory starred as high-school-quarterback-turned-choir-star Finn Hudson, was between seasons 4 and 5 at the time of his sudden death. Lea Michele, who was dating Cory on and off the show, returned to set to film season 5 just a month later.
"If we didn't show up for work then people wouldn't have work to go to," Michele recently explained. "And that was a lot of pressure for me, so I had to put my stuff aside and just show up, so that everybody could continue to work."

Joe and McGregor, who got divorced in 1989, are both survived by their son Shaun Monteith. McGregor is also survived by her brothers Pat, Mike, and Pete, sister Mary, and their families. Joe is also survived by his wife Yvette Monteith, brother Phillip Monteith, stepchildren Paul McCoy and Dale McCoy, grandchildren Jenna O’Donnell, Lucy Young,Emily McCoy, and Hanna McCoy, great-grandchildren Ivan McCoy, Davy McCoy, Roxanne Paquet, Adeline O’Donnell, Aster O’Donnell, and Walter O’Donnell.
