Give the people what they want.

That's not always possible, but Carnival Cruise Line has grown tired of hearing people order a Coke and having to reply. "Is Pepsi okay?"

They know that it isn't. Every restaurant that opts for Pepsi over Coke knows that it isn't.

The two products are rivals, not equal replacements for each other. It's like someone ordering a chocolate chip cookie and being asked "Would a Saltine be okay?"

And now Carnival Cruise Line has finally corrected its biggest beverage problem.

Carnival brings back Coca-Cola

Carnival Cruise Line will partner with The Coca-Cola Company as its preferred beverage partner across its North American fleet. Starting later this summer, Carnival guests will once again enjoy a refreshing selection of Coca-Cola beverage choices, including classic soft drinks, zero-sugar and low-calorie options, and sparkling flavored water.

"Carnival Cruise Line and Coca-Cola are two iconic brands that celebrate fun, family, friendship, food, and fabulous memories,” said Carnival President Christine Duffy. “We are excited to welcome back Coca-Cola's diverse lineup of beverages, which our guests love and which will enhance the food and beverage experience that is always part of a great cruise vacation on Carnival.”

As they sail from one of Carnival’s 13 U.S. homeports to destinations around the world, Carnival Cruise Line guests will enjoy their favorite Coca-Cola brands including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Topo Chico, fairlife and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, among others.

“We’re thrilled to be back on board with Carnival, literally! From an ice-cold Coca-Cola with lunch, a Topo Chico by the pool, or a Powerade after exploring a destination, we’ll have the perfect drink for every moment of the journey,” said Coca-Cola President Dagmar Boggs.

Carnival passengers react to the news

Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald responded to his own post with a cheeky post.

“'I prefer Pepsi. So if you drop Pepsi, then I will cruise with another cruise line,'Aghhhhhhhh.Soda pressing," he wrote.

And, while Heald will inevitably get some of that feedback, many passengers were happy.

"John Heald, we all tolerated Pepsi for several years and it will be great to have Coca-Cola again. We didn't jump ship because they switched to Pepsi. I just brought my 12 pack of Cokes. It was so wrong to hear someone order a Crown and Pepsi or a Rum and Pepsi," Velma Owens wrote.

"It's rum and Coke, not rum and Pepsi," she added.

Shirley Watson had a more practical answer.

"I do prefer Pepsi, but I will survive with Coke products as long as you continue to carry caffeine-free options. Some of us need the caffeine-free options due to medical reasons," she shared.

Kenneth Winslow summed up how many posters felt.

"This is awesome news; it just made my day. I've been asking for this in my surveys for years. Looks like Carnival's getting something right. We won't talk about the loyalty program, though," he wrote.
