Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software has confirmed that Battle Royale Solos will be returning to the free-to-play shooter today, June 26, following its shock removal late last month. The mode was replaced with Battle Royale Casual Solos, a nearly identical Warzone mode with one significant difference: the majority of the lobby is populated with bots. Fans were outraged at the decision, but Raven Software said it was to ensure that playlist options remained "focused and manageable."
The removal of Battle Royale Solos came as a massive disappointment to the Call of Duty community, but it wasn't the only thing that launched in Season 4 to a negative reaction. Shortly after the new update went live, players quickly realized that store bundle advertisements were now visible in Call of Duty's Create a Class tab. This was a new feature that was absent from the official Season 4 patch notes, likely because Activision knew it was a controversial decision. However, the studio would later go on to revert the feature and claim that it was a test published in error. Not everyone was convinced that this was an error, but many were happy to see it promptly removed from the game.

Battle Royale Solos Is Warzone's Least Popular Playlist

To put things into perspective, Warzone usually has a variety of different playlists to choose from, ranging from Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads, to Resurgence Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads, as well as the occasional limited-time mode and the extremely popular Plunder. This is why Raven Software opted to remove the mode, as spreading players out across so many different playlists can result in slow matchmaking times.
For those who enjoy Casual playlists, Activision recently revealed that Warzone's Season 4 Reloaded update will introduce a new Resurgence Casual playlist. The mode will consist of 44 players per lobby, featuring a mix of bots and real-life players. Similar to Battle Royale Casuals, Resurgence Casuals will have limited impact on game progression, and results will not count towards a player's stats. The mode will be available with Season 4 Reloaded, which begins Wednesday, July 2.
