Bronco Owner Suffers Scare Renting Her Vehicle On Turo

A woman who bought a Ford Bronco expressly to rent on Turo suffered a real scare the second time it was used through the app. She took to social media platform TikTok to share her story and help warn others about the potential risks of renting out their rides.

This car for sale looks like it went through a Los Angeles riot.

Plenty of people put their vehicles on Turo and rent them to others without serious issues. But this woman lucked out with the second person to rent her off-road rig as some funny business happened which made her think it was perhaps stolen.

Two days after the Bronco was rented, FordPass sent the woman an email saying her requested reset was complete. In other words, someone reset the system in the vehicle so she could no longer track its location or access other things remotely.

The fact that can even be done by someone who isn’t the owner is concerning.

After three days and sending a message to the person renting the Ford Bronco, the woman finally heard back. The renter claimed the radio wasn’t working, which was why he reset the vehicle’s computer.

That’s weird, but there are strange people out there who do things like that.

We don’t blame the woman for thinking her ride was gone forever and she’d have to wade through the nightmare of filing an insurance claim.

She learned some things from this experience. For one, she’s not just going to use the factory GPS tracker moving forward. Thieves know how to disable those in a hurry, so that’s always a wise move.

When she got the Bronco back, she found it was filthy and the soft top was reinstalled incorrectly. After telling people for four days of renting it she charged $190, then asking if she should charge a cleaning fee, she finally realized her rates are too low.

Knowing how expensive brand new Broncos are, that’s dirt cheap and someone took advantage, racking up over 600 miles. So take note, if you’re looking to rent your ride on Turo, and take steps to protect yourself.
