Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson Opts to Have Drama-Free Birthday and Disinvites Mama June: 'Not Changing My Mind'

On the June 27 episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, Alana was gearing up to celebrate her 19th birthday. The occasion marked her first birthday since sister Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, who shares the same birthday as Alana, died in December 2023.

Alana wanted to use her birthday as a commemorative day, honoring Anna with a dove release ceremony. And naturally, she wanted to involve her family.

Alana called big sister Lauryn and June to share her birthday plans, but neither responded as she had hoped.

Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efrid was Alana's first call amid her dinner with boyfriend Dralin Carswell, and it proved to be unsuccessful. At the time, Lauryn was busy talking about her own woes while also wrangling her children. She then told Alana, "Imma have to call you back in a little bit."

As Alana later called June, her mother could only focus on all the problems occurring at home with Pumpkin. "Every time I get on the phone, every time I see you, all you want to do is talk about Pumpkin. If you would just let me get two seconds..." Alana said, before getting cut off again by June.

This quickly angered Alana, leading to her making a bold call about her birthday celebration.

"I'm tired of listening to it, I'm tired of hearing it. We dont have drama in Colorado, and I don't got time for you to bring it to Colorado," Alana said. "Look, this isn't even the topic of conversation I called you about. Not even remotely. I was calling you to tell you that I wanted you guys to come out here for a tribute for Anna on my birthday, but honestly, y'all got too much s--- going on."

"Honestly, I don't even want y'all out here. I don't have time. I don't want to be that stressed out on my birthday," Alana continued. "You, Pumpkin, everybody. Y'all got too much going on. Actually, y'all stay at home and y'all can call me on my birthday, okay?"

"Wow, that's like not being nice," said June. "I mean, we need to all be together because I know it's going to be a hard day for all of us, especially you."

To that, Alana said: "Well, I'd rather have a peaceful birthday."

"You will definitely change your mind before your birthday," June responded.

"I'm not changing my mind. You're not invited and that's the end of discussion," Alana continued. "I like the peace, and I'll handle my drama in peace. Talk to you later, bye-bye."

"All right. Bye, bitch," June added.

As Alana pressed on with her plans to have the "best birthday possible," June didn't let Alana's revoked invite stop her from celebrating her youngest daughter's big day.

June admitted to her husband, Justin Stroud, that she "did a little something" that she shouldn't have. "I went ahead and purchased tickets to Colorado," June revealed to Justin, leaving him astonished.

"Wow," Justin said. "But I remember Alana telling you not to come out there. ... We got uninvited and invited all in the same phone call."

June then assured her spouse that she'd "talk to everybody" to ensure no drama is brought to the occasion. However, Justin aptly pointed out, "You're the main one! And it ain't even your drama."

The trip will occur over a 24-hour period, and she purchased tickets for everyone but Lauryn's estranged husband, Justin Efrid. However, she hasn't informed her relatives of this last-minute travel plan.

Addressing the matter further in a joint confessional, Justin noted that June's "pop-ups does not end well, usually." But June said that "this is about being there for Alana."

"Justin can get all pissed off but like, it's the right decision. I don't care what he's got to say," June added separately.

As Lauryn was busy working at her warehouse alongside sister Jessica Shannon and her friend Paisley, June stopped by to inform them of her big plan.

June revealed that she had "already booked us flights to go out there." "We're going to fly out the night before Alana's birthday, spend Alana's birthday with her and then come back here," she shared.

Lauryn pointed out how this would all be happening in "three days" time, and she "can't just be out here taking flights," given her other responsibilities, including taking her daughter, Ella, to school. But June assured Lauryn that they'd "be back in time" to accommodate that.

"Did you invite Josh?" Lauryn asked as June responded, "Why would I invite him? Y'all ain't together no more."

Lauryn noted that this isn't like "the old days" where they could easily change course at the drop of a hat. June argued that she can just "pack them kids up and go," but Lauryn said it's "Josh's weekend with the kids" amid their separation.

"Just tell him, say look, 'I need my kids this weekend, and I'll see you later. Peace out. Bye,'" June said, though Lauryn noted she's "still trying to be respectful" of Josh. Additionally, Lauryn pointed out that if Alana "really wanted me to come out, she would have said that on the phone."

"Now, we're gonna be invading her privacy," Jessica said. "She's gonna be mad at all of us for invading her privacy."

To that, June said, "I think surprising her, even though she said we have too much drama, she will be happily surprised."

"I guess," Lauryn added.

Later, Lauryn stopped by the house to speak with Josh about June's last-minute travel plans.

Though he noted how this weekend is his "time with the kids," Josh said that "if you want to take them, take them."

June also had things to figure out before the family traveled down to Colorado. She secretly called Alana's boyfriend, Dralin, to confirm where the dove-releasing ceremony was happening.

Dralin informed her of the couple's plans but reiterated that they "want a peaceful birthday with no drama at all." He was then shocked to learn that June had already purchased plane tickets.

"I promise it will mean a lot to her that we still showed up for her birthday and planned something. And I'll tell Pumpkin to leave her drama on the Pumpkin Street there in Georgia," June said, leading Dralin to reply, "And also, leave yours at home too now."

After the family jetted off to Colorado, June was eager not to let the trip "be a bust."

They arrived as Alana and Dralin met with their ceremony's dove wrangler, which Alana was initially less than pleased by.

"What are y'all even doing here? How did they even know you were here?" Alana asked as June said, "Well, little birdie flew in my yard and told me that y'all were gonna be a Swan Lake at 10 o'clock this morning."

"So who's y'all's little inside birdie, I wonder," Alana responded, resulting in Dralin making a nervous face.

June noted that "it's a quick turnaround" given everyone's obligations at home. To that, Alana said, "Y'all are absolutely insane, but I guess I appreciate it."

"Not gonna lie, I was a little annoyed when I see my family come out of nowhere, but I am kind of glad that they brought my little cute little nieces and nephews," Alana then told the cameras. "And as much as I want to sit here and talk smack and say I don't want them here, I am kind of glad that they literally flew halfway across the country just to see me."
