Abandoned Ford GT40 Kit Car Gets Deep Cleaned

Even if you’re not a fan of a kit cars, you have to admit seeing this filthy abandoned Ford GT40 is truly sad. Not only is it covered with dirt, there’s a ton of lichen growing on the rear, plus the carpeting inside is literally growing grass.

This modern muscle car is unabashedly patriotic.

It’s one of the most disgusting detail jobs we’ve ever seen and is far beyond the capabilities of your run-of-the-mill wash boy. Thankfully, the professionals at WD Detailing took on this disgusting job for free so they could share it with the world via the internet, keeping us all entertained through vicarious cleaning.

We just have to say not all kit cars are created equal. This one gives us serious uncanny valley vibes as it somewhat looks like a Ford GT40, but at the same time it doesn’t. That’s in part thanks to parts used off different production cars like Corvettes.

Plus, instead of using a burly V8, something any continuation GT40 absolutely deserves, this thing uses a tiny, underpowered Volkswagen engine. We would rather see it with an LS swap and shockingly we bet most Ford fans, if they were being honest, would as well.

Or maybe you’d rather see this thing scrapped? Is it even worth going through all this trouble of detailing it? Or is this something which never should have been created, an affront to the legendary endurance racer, and should be destroyed unceremoniously?

The owner actually save it from a foreclosure home. He professionally cleans out those properties for lenders. He’s seen his fair share of abandoned cars, especially strange ones, but saved this one because he couldn’t bear the thought of it just going to a scrapyard.
