August 2025 will see the return of many fan-favorite shows, including Wednesday and My Life with the Walter Boys for highly anticipated sophomore seasons, and the addition of beloved movies to the streamer. Their new content features a Sofia Carson-led romance called My Oxford Year, which promises to bring the swoon, and an adaptation of the best-selling book The Thursday Murder Club.

If you're in the mood for more dramatic reality TV, Perfect Match season 3 is coming to the streamer with a new set of familiar faces, including stars from The Bachelor and Love Island. And, a fresh documentary takes aim at one of the 2000s' most iconic reality shows, The Biggest Loser.

Netflix's August slate also includes a bevvy of A-list actors from Jenna Ortega stealing the screen once again as Wednesday Addams to Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren starring as murder-solving retirement home residents.

James Jacobs, who goes by JJ'88, stars in the inventive movie about his life after killing a man and committing to making music and advocating for prison abolition while behind bars.

Contessa Gayles co-produces with Jacobs, who primarily appears as a disembodied voice on the prison phone line. The creative concept offers questions about rehabilitation, the purpose of prisons and how music can be a lifeline.
